They didn’t deserve to win game 7. they got outplayed most of the game and once pitt had the 2 goal lead, we couldn’t really break their trap. Maybe we were too banged up this year, maybe the 4 games in 6 nights caught up to us in the end, maybe they didn’t have the drive like last year… should be an interesting off season.
Helm deserves a regular spot, Leino and Abdelkader also should be in the line-up everyday. Will we resign Hossa after 2 or 3 pts in the Finals (will he now go back to Pittsbugh)? Hudler will be gone, he’s an unrestricted free agent. Maltby won’t be an everyday player anymore, Samuelsson should take his bad defense and good shot somewhere else where defense doesn’t matter, like the Jerry Sloan hockey school. Lidstrom, as it pains me to say, is aging and simply can’t play the high number of minutes during the regular season.
Now are hopes rely on the Tigers for the summer. Detroit could use a pickme up sometime soon instead of continuing disappointment.

    1. It wasn’t that I thought defense didn’t matter, it’s just that every player has a role. My role was to be a Holmstrom-like (or perhaps he should be described as Sloan-like) net presence. I was also strong on faceoffs, and wish someone had kept track of my percentages.
    2. How come no one ever mentions Lilja?
    3. We should give Pitt SOME credit for beating us, not just us losing to them.
    4. I was impressed by Kronwall over the course of the playoffs.

cuase lilja is a less talented version of ericcson.

id be more concerned with stuart and his lack of good play in the playoffs. him and kronner had many assists for the penguiins. they might have been the penguins leaders in points for the series.

i dont think well make it to the finals next year, western included. that was a let down.

    UPDATE:

Lidstrom had surgey during the Conference finals and missed the last 2 games against Chicago. Lidstrom told the Detroit Free Press he had testicular surgery after he was speared by Chicago’s Patrick Sharp in Game 3 on May 22.

Don’t you feel bad for calling him old now?

  7. zachary Says:

he must have had that stuff removed. if you get speard in teh nuts i imagine itd explode. or rupture. im sure that felt well.

  8. Kyle Says:

Also Danny Heatley is a free agent… Work your magic Kenny Holland

  9. York Roberts Says:

I’m as surprised as you guys. But it’s a good thing in the end. Wings win the first match, Pens the second, we all know next year’s deciding finals will be Pittsburgh vs. Detroit in a no holds barred steel cage match.

  10. York Roberts Says:

    >losing city is burned to the ground and stripped from history.

  11. indeedindeed Says:

    I’m fine with that.
