No one asked me, part 12,125

My choices for selected Golden Globes categories:

Best movie—The Dark Knight*

Best actress in a movie—Anne Hathaway**

Best actor in a movie—Mickey Rourke***

Best non-drama movie—“In Bruges”****

Best supporting actor in a dramatic movie—Heath Ledger*****

Best original song—“The Wrestler” by Springsteen******

Best television drama—“The Wire”*******

Best dramatic television actor—Michael C. Hall********

Best comedic television series—“Californication”*********

*”The Dark Knight” isn’t actually nominated in this category.
**Did not see her in this role, but I’m told she was good in it.
***If Rourke doesn’t win, I’m not watching this show against until next year.
****I really liked this movie, though it was pretty dramatic and shouldn’t be in this category at all.
*****If Ledger doesn’t win, he won’t watch this again.
******Great, great song.
*******”The Wire” was never nominated for a Golden Globe, an omission that invalidates the entire process.
********He’s good.
*********Please start watching this show so they keep making episodes.

that’s a few too many asterisks i think. and springsteen already won for “the wrestler.” right on. the rest of this stuff is pretty much a given. i didn’t know that frost/nixon was getting so much buzz. nothing for milk? (and i realize that sean penn was nominated.)

i kind of got chills when rourke won. pretty poignant too when he thanked his dogs, because sometimes all a man has left are his dogs.

great performance in the movie, great redemptive story.

I haven’t gotten around to seeing most of the films being considered for awards yet.

I liked the Dark Knight, really like Slumdog Millionare. If I go home for the long MLK weekend i’m gonna try and see whichever of the “oscar” movies is showing at the State, I believe it’s “Doubt”. I also want to see “Gran Torino”, largely because it was shot in Michigan, but it sounds like it’s a pretty good film too.

As I told you yesterday, I’m watching “The Wire” via itunes right now because our TV isn’t working. Great Show, although i’m not sure anything could live up to the unending hype you’ve showered on it. I watched the first season of “Californication”, very funny show, good story, didn’t like how the first season ended but still a good show.

really jerry? dark knight? i will hound you for life about this. LIFE.

californication might be the most overrated show on this blog. its funnmy but in a how long can this go on, cant be much longer than a few seasons then it will start to get repetative, kind of way.

did the boss produce the wrestler i missed that? how drunk was micky anyways? i want to see that, hopefulyl its playing at the landmark.

did i mention revolutionary road is really good and…… how did sam mendes get with kate winslet?

  5. indeedindeed Says:

sam mendes is a genius. american beauty, his debut, was off the chain. he’s yet to make a bad film. women like that. and he must be uber-confident if he can be married to someone who tells the most famous actor in the world, “i love you with all of my heart.” (i’m paraphrasing.)

dark knight is really, really, really good. what’s your problem with it again?

i’m biased towards movies/shows/books about writers, but i think californication is great. i watched the whole second season in about a day.

  6. zachary Says:

not only that, but leo and kate get busy in the kitchen, for that movie.

my problem is that as PE would say dont, dont dont, dont dont dont, dont dont dont, dont believe the hype.

    love american beauty, but comon.

i think leo and kate got something going on…

  7. coffee Says:

Mickey Rourke’s comeback story reminds me a lot of Robert Downey Jr. for some reason
