One up, one down

By indeedindeed

York is rightly outraged by how accepted domestic violence is in pro sports. Fans are way too forgiving of this kind of injustice, and teams certainly are. Go read the whole thing.

I do, however, disagree with this part of his post:

I also am willing to ignore when people like Manny Ramirez and/or Shawn Chacon have fits of rage and throw their employers to the ground…to a degree…barring that they cut the roids or seek anger management.

I’m all about the organization of labor and the power of workers, but A. individual violence doesn’t help anything, B. Manny is one of the least exploited employees in America, and C. the team traveling secretary is not Manny’s employer. I’m sure Manny makes 200 times what that guy does, and it’s never okay to threaten a guy because he has to be the messenger of the oh-so-bad news that Manny might have to shell out a few of his own dollars for tickets.

I agree with you and I went on to say that he should have been suspended by the Red Sox organization if not the MLB (I think I suggested at least 10 games) and that he also should be forced to go into anger management and/or sensitivty training and/or a substance abuse program (if drinking and or roids are causing his recent rage falre-ups). Stop making me look bad Sloan. It was the baldness comment, wasn’t it?
